Catherine Pitchford is a Certified Nurse Midwife who
wholeheartedly believes in pregnancy and childbirth as a natural physiological
event in a woman’s life. She feels it is such a privilege to be a part of this
exciting time in a family's life. She has been supporting women and their
families throughout the birth process since 2011, first as a labor and delivery/
postpartum registered nurse, and now as a certified nurse midwife.
Catherine received her Bachelors of Science, Nursing from
the University of South Alabama and her Masters of Science, Midwifery from
Frontier Nursing University. Her desire to become a midwife stemmed from wanting
to empower women in the hospital setting and give them the opportunity to have
as natural a childbirth as they desire. She focuses on the woman, her family and
their needs before, during or after pregnancy and birth. She believes in
providing evidence based care as well as educating women to make informed
decisions about their healthcare. She considers herself more as a “facilitator”
to ensure the health and safety of women.
Catherine and her husband, Hanson, have been residing in
Yuma since 2013 when Hanson was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma.
They have a cheerful daughter and boisterous Chesapeake Bay retriever. In their
spare time, they can be found spending time together participating in many
outdoor activities including running, swimming, hiking and snowboarding.
